Membership
We are now offering a limited number of memberships at BKLYN CLAY West in Tribeca. We are offering membership at West to existing members and students first, then those on the existing membership waitlist. If you are looking for studio access in Tribeca, we recommend starting with classes, which have wide open studio hours. You can also join the membership waitlist for Tribeca, though we are not yet sure what the wait will look like.
BKLYN CLAY’s membership in Prospect Heights is currently full, those who join the
waitlist can expect a wait of 15 - 18 months.
To join the waitlist for either studio, please email info@bklynclay.com with your name and studio of interest.
Memberships begin on either the 1st or 15th of the month. Your membership deposit secures your space and is also your first month’s payment. Do not submit a deposit until you have been invited to do so via email.
Traditional Membership requires a 3 month minimum commitment and renews on a rolling basis with a 30 day cancelation policy at both studios.
In Prospect Heights, we have 210 members in our 5,260 square foot space with 44 wheels. 14 of those wheels are for members, the rest are in classrooms, which are also accessible to members when classes are not in session.
In Tribeca, we have 50 members in our 3,800 square foot space with 28 wheels, which are located in classrooms shared by students, private lessons, and events.
Traditional Memberships include 24/7/365 access to studio facilities, including all of the studio equipment (wheels, vertical slab roller, extruder, ceramic 3D printer, full-size color decal printer, slip-casting, spray booth, photo booth, etc.), clay, glazes, and either a private shelf (approximately 4 feet long x 18 inches deep x 18 inches tall) for $300/month or a semi-private workspace (adjustable height desk and multiple shelves) for $600/month (semi-privates are only available at Prospect). All prices include tax. The only additional costs are firing fees at 4 cents per cubic inch per firing and specialty clays (like porcelain).
Please keep in mind that at our Tribeca location we do not have a vertical slab roller, 3D printer, spray booth, or photo booth. However, members at West may book time in advance at the Prospect Heights studio to use this equipment. Each studio has different glazes; members may fire at the member rate at both studios; to glaze at the studio where you do not have membership you just need to make a glazing appointment.
Members must be able to work independently, as membership does not include instruction.
Our studio clays at Prospect are white stoneware, red stoneware, and sculpture clay. At West our studio clays are white stoneware, buff stoneware, and sculpture clay.
If you have questions, please feel free to email us at info@bklynclay.com - we would be happy to talk to you about our aesthetic and amenities for members.
If you would like a tour of the facilities, please stop by any day of the week between 9am and 9pm.
